Holmen fully welcomes and supports EUDR as an important initiative to prevent deforestation and forest degradation. Our processes and traceability systems are well equipped to meet the three key requirements of the new EU law: deforestation-free production, compliance with national legislation in the production country, and the establishment of a so-called "due diligence declaration."
We continuously work to strengthen our processes to ensure traceability, including by:
- Ensuring traceability in the group's value chain
- Developing IT solutions to manage information exchange with EU Traces*
- Reviewing current policies and procedures to ensure they comply with EUDR requirements.
As a customer, you will be able to find the due diligence declaration related to the relevant product in EU Traces using a reference and verification number.
Holmen closely monitors the EU's ongoing guidance on EUDR, including country-specific risk assessments and upcoming national reports, to ensure full compliance. We will provide more information about EUDR in upcoming newsletters.
*EU Traces is the EU's information system where all due diligence declarations must be sent. Through EU Traces, relevant raw materials and products can be traced back to the production site. In EU Traces, all actors in the value chain must also certify their responsibility for ensuring due diligence has been observed.
