Varsvik Wind Farm
Construction of the Varsvik wind farm began in July 2013 and the wind farm was commissioned in December 2014. With its 17 wind turbines, Varsvik is Uppland's largest wind farm. The area, which is located just north of Hallstavik, is well suited for the production of wind energy thanks to good wind conditions.
Wind shear is high in Varsvik, which results in a need for tall turbines to reach a good wind resource. The higher the turbine, the less turbulence.
The annual production of 150 GWh of renewable electricity corresponds to the household electricity consumption of approximately 30,000 Swedish homes.
